An easy way to stop drinking

woman gives up alcohol

On July 15, 1983, Allen Carr, an amateur smoker with thirty years of experience, quit smoking a new cigarette and announced the discovery of a new way to quit nicotine. A method that allows any smoker to give up a bad habit once and for all - without voluntary efforts, tricks or substitutes, without suffering from withdrawal syndrome, without gaining weight and, most importantly, without spending the rest of his life in a difficult struggle. with the desire to smoke with a secret fear that a party without smoking would not be so much fun and that it would be impossible to cope with stress without smoking.

At that time, few people could believe the reality of such a magical cure. Everyone knew that quitting smoking, as a rule, requires a great will, accompanied by weight gain and the painful consequences of avoiding nicotine. In general, quitting smoking is as difficult as climbing Mount Everest. Unfortunately, millions of smokers continue to suffer from this deception.

Given that doctors spend thousands of hours and millions of dollars looking for an effective way to quit nicotine, it is hard to believe that former smokers with no medical education can cope with a problem that professionals cannot handle. overturn. This is mostly believed by members of the Anonymous Alcohol Society. As a former Anonymous, I am well aware that we owe the lives of millions of people to our unhappy friends, not to doctors.

Allen Carr is now known around the world as a leading expert in helping smokers get rid of bad habits. His first book, The Easy Way to Quit Smoking, is the best-selling book since it was first published by Penguin in 1985. The book has been translated into more than 20 languages and is included in the list of best-selling books in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A worldwide network of clinics has been established based on the Allen Carr method.

I first heard about Allen Carr from friends who were treated at the clinic and were very pleased with the results. I was skeptical, since most had quit a few days earlier. I had no doubt that they would pay a fortune for the latest "magic" tool and try to convince me to eat the same. Now I don't believe it myself, but then I wanted them to return to their old habits. It bothered me that they weren't worried when I smoked with them, and I gradually realized that they were really enjoying their new life. Instead of sympathizing with them, I became jealous of them.

I felt like a pariah because I had been smoking for many years. As a constantly active member of the Brotherhood, I was fully aware that alcohol was ruining my life. My excuse was that I considered alcohol an important social support. Now that I was addicted to alcohol, I felt like a pariah again. So I went to the Allen Carr Clinic. Convinced that this would not help, I did not tell my friends or my wife about my intentions. Four hours later, when I left the clinic, I wanted to tell the whole world about it.

Carr argues that the method is equally effective for all types of addictions. I am pleased to testify that this method not only saved me from smoking, but also allowed me to wake up from the nightmare that governs my life - alcoholism. I was once convinced that alcoholism was incurable. Carr proved me wrong. My only regret today is that I didn't know anything about Allen Carr before. If in doubt at first, don't worry. Allen expects exactly this from you. I will not talk about how his method works and what is its effectiveness. I can only say one thing: when you finish this book, it will be a mystery to you, because you have not understood such obvious things before. Enjoy your book!

An easy way to stop drinking

More than twenty years ago, I proved that any smoker can easily quit. A few years after discovering this method, I seriously expected that smoking would be a thing of the past. Indeed, since then, according to the most conservative estimates, more than five million people have got rid of the habit thanks to my method. For many, giving up nicotine was simple and pleasant. But there are millions of people in the world who have never heard of Allen Carr and his method. I see the reason for this only in the fact that it takes some time to abandon the generally accepted dogma. After all, everyone knows how difficult it is to quit smoking.

For most of our history, we have believed that the earth is flat and at the center of the universe. It is known that it takes a lot of willpower to get rid of alcoholism, including several unsuccessful attempts to stop drinking. It is also believed that controlling drinking habits is the most difficult for those who need it the most.

If I struggle to convince people that quitting is an easy and enjoyable way, how much effort does it take to convince everyone that they can solve their alcohol problem easily, permanently, and immediately for themselves? If you suspect alcohol dependence or already consider yourself an alcoholic, Anonymous Alcoholics (A. A. ), known for their reputation for alcoholism, are less likely to do me any good with this category of expression:

"Alcoholism is a chronic disease for which there is no cure. "

Unfortunately, this idea enjoys the active support of many well-known medical professionals, the media and society in general. The belief that alcoholism is incurable is so ingrained that I would not be offended if you threw it in the trash without opening it. But please don't do that. Many doctors do not share the views of A. A. and other similar organizations, but are very reluctant to broadcast their protests on national television.

One of the most devastating consequences of alcoholism is that the victim remains free. Sufficiently wealthy people whose alcohol status is out of control can go for rehabilitation, but for the vast majority of alcoholics, AA is the only way to get effective help. So why do I ask the essence of A. A. 's strategy: the idea that alcoholism is an unknown disease?

Because it is based on dreams!

What fascinates me most about AA meetings is that each speaker can make a scandalous statement, sob or express anger, use expressions that will incite a sergeant of a construction battalion, and all this is the audience. . . . Politicians should be required to attend A. A. meetings to learn how to discuss.

I understand that some of my judgments can cause you a variety of emotions, from comfort to anger, fear, and disbelief. But whoever you think you are, who suffers from minor alcoholism or is completely free of alcoholism, or vice versa, I have only good news for you. I only ask one thing: Do the same service with any speaker at the A. A. meeting.

Let me be clear, no matter what I say about A. A. , I am not his rival and rival. For most alcoholics, A. A. is the only source of help. However, according to the doctrine of this society, alcoholism is incurable, and the path to recovery can be long and painful. Think of a universal, simple, and inexpensive remedy for anyone suffering from alcoholism:

  • Moved immediately!
  • It always worked!
  • It did not require voluntary effort!
  • Eliminated the suffering of withdrawal symptoms!
  • Made it possible to enjoy the holiday more!
  • Helped to cope with stress better!
  • It did not evoke feelings of sacrifice or deprivation and the need to constantly struggle with attraction!

Probably easier to believe in fairy tales. But let's imagine for a moment that there is such a drug. Assume that A. A. will use. How long do you think alcoholism will cover our planet? What sane person would refuse to use such a tool?

But it exists. It's in your hands. If you have read this far, then you are concerned about the problem of alcohol abuse. In this case, I think it would be foolish not to read the book to the end. It is natural to ask about a tool, especially if it is claimed to have an immediate and lasting effect, if it is applied effortlessly and easily.

Why should you trust me? And I'm not asking you about that. On the contrary, I am ready to accept your doubts. An important part of my method is that you have to question not only what I say, but all your attitudes about alcohol and alcoholism, which you have hitherto accepted as an unchanging truth.

When I first said that the method would make it easier for everyone to quit smoking, my family and close friends thought it was a joke. They were soft enough not to make me laugh, but it was clear that I was a potential patient in a mental hospital.

Not surprisingly, I've tried to quit countless cigarettes in the past, and I've done so by quitting a freshly smoked cigarette. Today, passers-by keep me on the street and thank me for saving my life, the life of a close friend or relative. Every day I receive letters saying that I am a genius and they offer me to be a knight or even canonize. I was even offered to sit on the royal throne in Ascot, but I personally think it's too much. Such rewards surpass my services.

Like all great discoveries, the Easy Way is a manifestation of more chance than any genius in my nature. In fact, the respect and esteem that surrounds me today still embarrasses me. But like any normal person, I can't enjoy it. All of this has helped me to assert myself, and I will not risk my reputation, at least by making statements that I cannot substantiate.

If you are a different person, you have probably asked yourself this question:

"If Allen Carr's method is as unique as he claims, why AA, ASH, QUIT, authorities, etc. Undoubtedly, with modern means of communication, this method of treatment can spread like a hurricane around the world. "

You may wonder why people from all over the world come to consult this humble lonely man who has no medical basis, who does not advertise this method, and why he is known as the world's leading expert in this field. There is only one simple answer:

The easy way is effective!

Perhaps you are under the impression that basic medicine opposes my method. In fact, at first I was considered a swindler and a charlatan. But today, more than any other profession, there are doctors who ask for help from our clinics, and you will hear many of our recommendations from doctors and nurses. The medical profession is extremely responsible and stressful, so doctors are more likely to fall into drug traps than ordinary people, especially when you think you have open access to medication.

If an ordinary doctor decided to apply my method to his patients, he would fail. A full course of treatment requires at least four hours of therapy and takes a year to train a specialist. Organizations such as DRINKLINE, [ASH, and QUIT are charitable organizations run by well-meaning amateurs, often unfamiliar with these issues. Their advice leads to misconceptions that lead to past failures and complaints.

Nevertheless, I am sure that the members of the A. A. who have been in this well have enough experience, competence, motivation and enthusiasm. If you add the necessary information to their recommendations, perhaps in a few years alcoholism will remain only in the course of school history.

Does this mean that the Easy Way cannot operate without the support of an organization like A. A. No, it is not. Patients come to our clinic in despair, confident that they will get rid of their addiction only after weeks, months and even years of torture. Many believe that even with a successful solution to the problem, the holiday will no longer be so much fun, there will be nothing to get rid of stress, and you will have to deal with this attraction for the rest of your life.

"Wait a second! Wait. I've been abusing alcohol for over 30 years. Don't think I'm stupid. There's no way you can recover in just four hours. "

I never said you would recover in four hours. I said that your problem can be solved in four hours. Have you ever noticed that a toothache that has been bothering you for weeks has miraculously disappeared as you have the courage to go to the doctor? This is the "law of inferiority. "

Have you noticed the sad expression on the faces of the people who enter the dentist's room and how they can keep a happy smile when they come out of the dentist's chair? Toothache can be relieved by filling or removing a tooth. After such pain, the recovery period may take longer. The gums remain inflamed for several days. But regardless of the inflammation, you feel happy when you leave the doctor's office, especially if this is your last visit to him.

This applies to any physical or mental problem: if you know the solution, you feel strength and confidence. The more serious the problem, the longer it hurts you, the more you believe in its hopelessness, the more your spirits rise when you find a solution.

"But how can there be a simple and quick solution to a long and complex problem like alcoholism? "

Imagine being locked in a cell with a combined lock. You can spend years choosing a code and you can't go anywhere. But if I give you the code, you will be released immediately, easily and forever.

"But alcoholism is something else entirely. "

Alcoholism is exactly that, and the Easy Way is the key to prison constipation.

So this book is an advertisement for Allen Carr clinics? No. It offers the same course of treatment and alone is enough. Clinics and a book are different ways to implement the same treatment. The advantage of the clinic is to ask questions to a trained therapist and discuss controversial issues on the spot. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the book.

Your doctor may tell you that you missed something important. Of course, a book can't do that. I said the treatment was immediate. Obviously, it has an immediate effect only after the end of the course. Treatment at the clinic consists of a four-hour session. The treatment with the book continues until the end of reading. The advantage of the book is that you can read in your spare time. But in practice this can be a disadvantage. I often receive letters with such comments:

"My daughter bought my book three years ago. I read it ten days ago. How right you were! It's wonderful to be free. Why did I lose those three years? "

Indeed, why? There are many reasons why a person should not take this book in any way. At the clinic, the patient is likely to spend the entire session. I have personally treated more than 25, 000 people who came to me. Only one patient left the session because her husband cheated on her and visited us.

Like many people, I hate instructions and guides that are as exciting to read as most to watch the paint dry. That's why I did my best to make the book fun. I hope I have done as well as you can to the end, because this book will solve your alcohol problem yourself.

In principle, your problem can be considered solved as soon as you master the information here. To do this, you need to have a fresh and sober head so that you can focus on the work at hand. Some people read a book in a meeting, but I do not recommend doing so.

I have already said that healing is guaranteed. In case of failure in the clinic, we return the money to the patient (you can find information about this at the end of the book). I'm sorry, I can't promise to return your money when I get the book. You have no doubt as to why the failures occurred and whether they were one of those failures. Success or failure has nothing to do with it.

Everyone is guaranteed a treatment, provided that all the rules are followed. After following all the instructions, you will be able to get rid of alcoholism in an incredible way. Many people do this with pleasure. Now you can think:

"There's a mistake here. Your rules are probably something like this: for a serious oath that you won't touch alcohol again, keep your oath, and say to yourself as soon as you feel the temptation, 'How wonderful it is to be free! '""

In principle, following these simple instructions will definitely help you stay in control. But I doubt your life will be happier. Moreover, if the method was so much, we would not get so much positive feedback and we would not get more than 90 percent performance. Now you can think:

"Understand. The main thing is that the rules are so complicated that only Einstein can follow them, and Allen Carr will accuse me of being too dumb to understand the method correctly and apply it successfully. "

There is no such thing. If you are smart enough to read this book, you must be smart enough to succeed. Think of each rule as a number in the combination lock. Skip or shuffle a number and the lock will not unlock.

So, the first rule:

Follow all the rules.

Remember, more than 90% of patients who come to our clinic stop drinking. This is due to the fact that they follow all the established rules during the session. You should do the same when reading a book. I’ve already mentioned that I hate instructions and guidelines; If you don't like them, I'm happy to say that there are only seven rules and they are given in the following pages.

The second rule says:

Be patient.

When I say 'be patient', I mean don't go to the next part of the book without reading all the previous material. Treat the book like a detective. In fact, this is a detective. The drug trap is the biggest fraud in human history. In the words of Abraham Lincoln:

"You can deceive all people for a while, or you can always deceive some people, but you can't always deceive all people! "

The same can be said about drugs until you find an easy way. This does not mean that everyone is addicted, but all this time people have been captivated by illusions. Like any fraud, drugs can play a cruel joke, even with an intellectual. However, the resulting deception is not able to deceive even a weak-minded person.

Unlike other detective stories, this book may have a different ending. For some, reading it can be sad or even tragic. But for many, it is the happiest end of their lives. The choice is yours. You need to follow all the rules for a happy ending. The third rule says:

Start reading in a good mood.

If you are one of those who believe that alcoholism is practically incurable, how can you do that? Let's face it, this is a chicken or egg championship. If you can travel in time for the joys that will arise after reading this book and for a second experience, your mood will not be different.

It's like learning to jump into the water. The depth of the pool is 2. 5 meters, but the bottom does not seem to be more than half a meter. The board you are standing on is only 50 centimeters above the water, but you feel that everything is 2. 5 meters below. You have no doubt that you will break your head, and despite the efforts of the coach and the security guarantees, you must gather all the courage to decide to jump.

The thought of getting rid of drunkenness sometimes appears to a person who has made several unsuccessful attempts, not more than one fear. You can experience the feeling of a beginner diver before jumping. But you are not a diver. You are in a more jealous position to gain everything without losing anything. The worst thing that can happen is failure. In this case, your situation will not be worse than the situation you started. Follow the rules and you will be fine.

Some people think that the Easy Way is to teach positive thinking. You know yourself: if you believe in the goal, you will achieve it. This is not necessarily the case. I always thought positively, but that didn't help me escape the prison cell, nor did it help me escape the drug trap. However, positive thinking greatly increases your chances of success, and the opposite position is almost doomed to failure. So the fourth rule is:

Think positive.

Let's get rid of all pessimistic thoughts. It is meaningless to feel unhappy and deprived. You need to find something incredible that others find impossible - a lasting cure for alcoholism. Think of your journey in this book as an exciting endeavor. Think about how proud your friends and family will be.

The advantage of the Easy Method is that you can continue to drink during treatment. It may sound incredible, but I promise that everything will gradually become clearer. Here is your fifth rule:

Do not stop drinking and do not give up alcohol until you read the book.

There is an exception to this rule. If you are in rehabilitation or have been abstaining from alcohol for more than a day, try to keep yourself under control as much as possible. The sixth rule:

Read this book only with a sober head.

The last, seventh rule is the most difficult to follow:

Be objective and open to new ideas.
